Young Peoples Futures have pioneered Scotland's first Dreamscheme.  Dreamscheme is a Community Youth Development scheme, first developed by Kate King on the Flower Estate in Sheffield.

Dreamscheme is based on a simple concept of WORK, POINTS and TRIPS. Young people are enabled to carry out community based work projects for which they earn points. These can then be exchanged for trips and activities of their choice.

Dreamscheme turns youthwork from a consumption model to a production model - because our young people are the future have huge amounts of energy to bring change to our community.

We work with small groups of local young children to help them identify social action projects in the community where they would like to see change.  We support them as they make a difference with their own hands and hard work.  As they work, they accumulate points and gain a wonderful sense of achievement.  They then choose how they want to spend the points they have earned on a fun activity or trip, and we support them to do this too!

Everyone wins! 

• The built fabric and greenspace in the community wins as it is transformed by environmental projects such as repainting a graffittied tenement close with beautiful murals.
• The young people win as they learn about the rewards of hard work, gain confidence in their ability to transform their community, gain affirmation from staff and community for their work, learn new skills and explore new places and experiences as a reward. 
• Members of the wider community win as young people serve them and help them to feel safe and valued, through visits to local old people's homes with storytelling and singing.
• Our Housing Association partners win because young people begin to take take ownership of public space and property because they have invested their time and energy to changing it rather than vandalising it.
  
• Everyone wins from the trust and affirmation that flows and community identity is reinforced.
